Deepawali Diwali Festival

Of all the festivals celebrated in India, Diwali is by far the most glamorous and important.  Diwali is also a time for pooja and tradition show off  Enthusiastically enjoyed by people of every religion, its magical and radiant touch creates an atmosphere of joy and festivity.. The festival of Diwali is separated by a different tradition, but what remains true and constant is the celebration of life, its enjoyment and goodness. Diwali is associated with wealth and prosperity.


The time of Diwali is one of the most festival and beautiful times of the year. Diwali means Row  oF Lights. They are the best ways of bringing the society together to take time off and celebrate in union.  Diwali or Deepawali is also known as festival of lights, and it is an important festival in Hindu, Jain and Sikh religion all celebrated this Diwali Festival.   It is believed that Laxmiji enters into clean and spotless houses.  It is a way of celebrating nature and its wonderful and abundant bounties. Moreover, due to its vast religious and cultural diversity, top many festivals, festivities and fairs are celebrated regularly every year. 

 It is celebrated just before the setting in of winter season, at the end of October or many a times in the beginning of November. According to the Hindu calendar, Diwali is celebrated in the  month of Kartik- when the weather is pleasant—being neither too hot nor too cold. This festival is celebrated after 20 days of Dusshera It is celebrated as the return of Lord Sri Ram to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile. The people of Ayodhya had lit 'diyas' using ghee to express their infinite joy on the return of their beloved Ram. One can imagine the entire city being lit up on a moonless night with strings of 'deepaks' and candles. That was the first Diwali to be celebrated. Since then, Diwali is celebrated to commensurate the return of Ram—the ideal man of our civilization. Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth too is worshipped on this day. Diwali is not festival of light in order that we may burn candles. Fireworks and sparkles but this is the   best way of expressing our gaiety,



Days before the coming of Diwali, preparations begin. People clean and wash their houses on Diwali. Some people paint their houses and some people open their windows to welcome Goddess of wealth Laxmiji . People whitewash their houses and shops with pictures, toys and paper flowers. Doorways are hung with  mango leaves.   The markets get crowded and busy. People come out of their homes to buy things in order to prepare delicacies, new clothes, crackers etc and the shops are decorated to attract the buyers..  The  people`s  light their houses with electric bulbs of different colors,  New clothes are stitched by men, women & children’s . Children also eagerly wait to light fire-crackers.



Few days before Diwali, is celebrated the Dussehra. It is celebrated in the memory of Ram’s victory over Lanka .Dusherra id the festival of   victory of good over evil. Dusherra is celebrated for ten days. Preparations for the festival start many days earlier. A big fair is held.  . The Ramayana is based on the life, times and values of Lord Rama. Lord Rama is called the Maryada Purushottam The effigies( Putle) of Ravana, Kumbhakarana and Meghnad are prepared. Ram Lila is enacted during the nights No Matter how strong and powerful evil. No matter how strong and powerful evil may appear to be it has to fall down to its knees when challenged by good. Good always conquers the evil. Nothing can stand in its way.



Diwali is a combination of  Five Days – Dhanteras,  Naraka Chaturdashi or Choti Diwali,  Diwali day. , Govardhan,  Bhai Dooj



Dhanteras: This auspicious day is celebrated two days before the festival of lights, Diwali. It is  worshiped to provide prosperity and well being. It is also the day for celebrating wealth, as the word 'Dhan' literally means wealth. A day before Diwali is celebrated 'Dhanteras' when it is considered lucky to buy utensils of silver. The markets are extremely crowded on this day as people buy metals for their homes.



Choti Diwali: People celebrate this day with fewer lights and fewer crackers. On this day Lord Krishna had killed demon Narkasur. On this day people worship Goddess Kali. Chhoti Diwali is as special as Diwali. the goddess of wealth in her most benevolent mood, fulfilling the wishes of her devotees.



Govardhan: Govardhan is the important part of Diwali. It is Hill in UttarPrdesh which a Loard Krishan which was once lifted on her one Finger at the time when he is king of Mathura.    It is alos cllaed  Anna-Koot. On this day in  temples Mix Vegetables &  puris were made & give to Load Krishna.  Lord Krishna was also known as Giridhari or Govardhandhar

    

Bhai Dooj : Bhai Dooj is a festival celebrated by Hindus on the last day of the five-day-long Diwali festival. Bhai Dooj falls on the second day after the new moon. it is a day to pray for the long life of one's brother, who is referred to as “bhayya or bhai”. on this day sisters invite their brothers to their homes.



On the day of  Diwali, people worship Goddess Lakshmi during the auspicious time as announced by poojaris  They say prayers, so that Goddess Lakshmi may visit their houses. Lakshmi Puja is the Puja of Lakshmi Goddess and is performed at the night during Diwali. Diwali, lights illuminate every corner of India and the scent of incense sticks hangs in the air, mingled with the sounds of fire-crackers, joy, togetherness and hope . Persons  begin their new financial year by making new books accounts  and seeking the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. Small oil lamps or candles are customarily placed around the house. Sweet treats are exchanged, houses are whitewashed, new clothes worn, there's gambling, and fireworks highlight the bright light theme. After the puja, people dressed in new clothes. Children, dressed, light firecrackers and eat sweets. The people go out to wish each other.. Shops are decorated with festoons and paper buntings. Strings of artificial lights are put up everywhere. Houses sparkle with the light of die diyas. Designer Rangoli is made it is  a auspicious symbols of good luck and new accounts of books  is created.



Gifts and sweets are exchanged among friends and relatives.



Light is a symbol of knowledge, enlighten and good's victory over evil that makes Diwali one of  most important and favorite festivals., we should not forget the true meaning and essence of Diwali. That is the true message of Diwali and is extremely important for people to remember in these days when evil is rampant and corruption is pervading everywhere.



The day is marked with great rejoicing.  Diwali rings in the sounds of togetherness and prosperity, marking good times to come.
